A Journey of Faith and Trust: I found my SFC Community

CFC-Singles for Christ | GK Towerville, Sto. Rosario Parish, Minuyan, Bulacan

Unfamiliar with the area, I spent a long time searching for a CFC-Singles for Christ (SFC) community near my home in the Diocese of Bulacan. Since 2008, I hopped from parish to parish, hoping to find them. Finally, my persistent search paid off. Just yesterday, I found a community that is optimistically strong and spiritually vibrant.

My first meeting with the SFC community at Sto. Rosario Parish was truly unforgettable. Everything was a "first" for me. It was my first time meeting them, and my first time delivering CLP Talk No. 5 (The Christian Ideal: Loving God)—and in a very unconventional way!

Imagine this: Chapter Leaders Sister Liza Robes, who has served cheerfully for 11 years, and Brother Jeff Cabeje, a police officer who leads by selfless example, took a massive leap of faith. They trusted an SFC member they had never met before to give a talk to their CLP participants. Now, that is what I call TRUST! They trusted God, and they trusted in the bond of our community. They trusted me.

As some of you may know, I became active in CFC-Singles for Christ while in the Middle East, though I originally joined in Camiling, Tarlac, back in 2002. In Saudi Arabia, the crackdown on Christian groups did not scare me; it challenged me. Our community met and prayed discreetly every week, always mindful of the looming danger. Yet, the tremendous blessings we received gave us the bravery and strength to praise Him, even amidst religious discrimination and the risk of discovery by the authorities.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Tito Tony Vera Cruz, who visited our company as a consultant and helped end my long search for the community. I am humbled to say that, with the full support of our Titos and Titas, I was one of the pioneering SFC members who "hoisted the banner of Christ" in a city where my faith was considered a crime.

Contrasting these two experiences, I can see that our SFC family at Sto. Rosario Parish in Bulacan is in great need of financial support. I can sense their economic struggles, yet I see their poverty overshadowed by their cheerful service to the Lord. If it is His will, I want to be God’s instrument. I hope to be a blessing to my newfound SFC community within this parish.

To my brothers and sisters:
